Football Recap: Mount Vernon Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Mount Vernon extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They received a blow as they fell 28-13 to the Brookstone Cougars. The game was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but the Mustangs couldn't quite close it out.

As for Brookstone, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 42.7 points this season.

Dillon Terry was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 151 yards and two TDs while picking up 8.9 yards per carry, and also picked up 70 receiving yards. Those 151 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Jason Kelly did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 89 receiving yards.

Mount Vernon will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Business Engineering Science Tech at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th. As for Brookstone, they will welcome First Presbyterian Day at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Vikings have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
