Softball Recap: Fairfield Union Comes Up Short

Fairfield Union had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 5-13 to make it five. They lost 21-0 to the Bloom-Carroll Bulldogs. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Falcons' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Bloom-Carroll, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-2. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 14 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Bloom-Carroll's part, they got a massive performance out of Madelyn Gates, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Gates a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Whitcraft, who went 4-for-5 with one home run and four RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairfield Union will challenge Circleville at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Bloom-Carroll, they will square off against Amanda-Clearcreek at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The Aces have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.24 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
