Softball Game Preview: Red Level Tigers vs. Samson Tigers

Red Level will face off against Samson at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Red Level took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Paxton, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Bobcats on Monday.

The team relied heavily on Amaya Williams, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Samson). They blew past Elba 23-8 on Tuesday. That's two games straight that Samson has won by exactly 15 runs.

Emma Sormrude was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with seven stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Glisson, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs.

Samson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. They are 4-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Red Level's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-8. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Samson, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-11.

Red Level took their victory against Samson when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 19-2 score. Does Red Level have another victory up their sleeve, or will Samson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
