Basketball Recap: Somerset Comes Up Short

Somerset lost against Philipsburg-Osceola back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Somerset Eagles lost to the Philipsburg-Osceola Mountaineers on the road by a 66-50 margin. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured eight losses in a row.

Despite the defeat, Somerset saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aiden Roby dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards. Jacob Stoy was another key player, putting up eight points.

Even though they lost, Somerset smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Somerset's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Philipsburg-Osceola, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-7.

Somerset will face off against Bedford at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Somerset is facing Bedford at the right time seeing as Bedford is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Philipsburg-Osceola, they will take on Clearfield at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
