Baseball Recap: Monday's Win Is Odessa's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Delaware Military Academy, Odessa was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Delcastle Technical Cougars a 13-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Ducks, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Spencer Flayhart was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Michael Biondolillo was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Odessa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Delcastle Technical only posted an OBP of .353.

Odessa is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Delcastle Technical, they dropped their record down to 0-16 with the defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Odessa will take on Dover at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Delcastle Technical, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Andrew's at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last five games the Cardinals have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
