Basketball Recap: New Bern Christian Academy Falls to Epiphany in First Game of Season

New Bern Christian Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 63-45 fall against the Epiphany Falcons on Monday. New Bern Christian Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Epiphany apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Epiphany to victory, but perhaps none more so than Thomas Lathan, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Lathan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Colt R was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to 11 boards and three steals.

Epiphany has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Bern Christian Academy will face off against Living Water Christian at 7:00 p.m. on the 18th. As for Epiphany, they will challenge John Paul II Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
