Football Recap: Gilmer Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Gilmer suffered their biggest loss since September 13, 2024 on Friday. They were outmatched by the Calhoun Yellow Jackets and fell 49-22. The Bobcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Yellow Jackets from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

AJ Callihan threw for 125 yards and one touchdown. Hunter Britain was his top target, picking up 33 receiving yards and one TD.

It was another big night for Hudson Chadwick, who rushed for 179 yards and four scores on only 13 carries, and also picked up 86 receiving yards and one touchdown for Calhoun. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Chadwick a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trace Hawkins, who threw for 179 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 80% of his passes.

Gilmer has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Calhoun, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2.

Meanwhile, Calhoun is set to challenge their familiar foe Heritage at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 939 yards in their previous games.
