Softball Recap: East Lyme Takes a Loss

East Lyme was the 7-4 winner over Immaculate when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Vikings fell 8-5 to the Mustangs on Saturday. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lorelei Gronholm was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Natalie Knowlton, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

East Lyme's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Immaculate, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Lyme will welcome Morgan at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings are facing the Huskies at the right time seeing as the Huskies are stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Immaculate, they will be playing at home against Masuk at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Mustangs have won three straight at home, while the Panthers won nine straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
