Basketball Game Preview: Milford Mavericks vs. Howell Highlanders

The Milford Mavericks will be taking part in a tournament against the Howell Highlanders at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Milford will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Last Friday, Milford earned a 51-39 victory over Frankenmuth.

Meanwhile, Howell strolled past Stevenson with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 49-31. Given the Highlanders' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Spartans are ranked 208th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Milford pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points over those games. As for Howell, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-9.

Milford was able to grind out a solid win over Howell in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 56-47. Does Milford have another victory up their sleeve, or will Howell turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
