Softball Game Preview: Greater Nanticoke Area Trojans vs. MMI Preparatory School

The Greater Nanticoke Area Trojans will challenge MMI Preparatory School at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Greater Nanticoke Area is looking for their season's first victory.

Hanover Area hit Greater Nanticoke Area with a four-run second inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Trojans came up short against the Hawkeyes, falling 11-4. On the bright side, the four- run performance marked the Trojans' highest-scoring contest to date.

Kacey Spencer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and eight unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Greater Nanticoke Area saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyvia Schneider, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That run was Schneider's first of the season.

Meanwhile, MMI Preparatory School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 17-8 to Hanover Area.

MMI Preparatory School's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Greater Nanticoke Area, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Greater Nanticoke Area took their win against MMI Preparatory School when the teams last played back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
