Basketball Recap: Monarch Starts Season with Victory Against Pine Creek

Monarch took care of business in their home opener on Monday. They came out on top against the Pine Creek Eagles by a score of 59-48. That's more bragging rights for the Coyotes, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Logan Laverty had a dynamite game for Monarch, going 8 of 17 en route to 23 points and six steals. Another player making a difference was Dylan Ehrnstrom, who posted ten points and six steals.

When it comes to explaining why Pine Creek lost, don't look at Kyler Chatman. Despite the final result, he put up 16 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Corkins, who had six points.

Monarch didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-41 win against Grand Junction on the 5th. As for Pine Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 78-38 victory against Sierra on the 5th.
