Baseball Game Preview: St. Bernard's Central Catholic Bernardians vs. Southbridge Pioneers

The St. Bernard's Central Catholic Bernardians are taking a road trip to face off against the Southbridge Pioneers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Bernard's Central Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

St. Bernard's Central Catholic will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Worcester Tech, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bernardians' pitchers stepped up to hand the Eagles an 8-0 shutout on Wednesday.

Evan Sallila and Ryan Bouchard did most of the damage at the plate: Sallila went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run, while Bouchard went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave Bouchard a new career-high. CJ Pelissier was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Southbridge fell victim to Grafton and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 11-0 to the Gators. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Southbridge's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for St. Bernard's Central Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.

St. Bernard's Central Catholic couldn't quite finish off Southbridge in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Bernardians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
