Softball Recap: Eastern Greene Takes a Loss

Eastern Greene extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-6 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bloomfield Cardinals. If the Thunderbirds were looking for revenge after losing 7-6 to the Cardinals when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Ashlynn Bellman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Bloomfield, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games.

On Bloomfield's side, the team relied heavily on Gwenavere Klun, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Lailey Smith, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Coming up, Eastern Greene is taking a road trip to face off against Monrovia at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Bloomfield, they will welcome North Knox at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Cardinals have won four straight at home dating back to last season, while the Warriors won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
