Baseball Game Preview: Riverdale Rams vs. Mercer County Golden Eagles

The Riverdale Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Mercer County Golden Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Riverdale came up short against Hall and fell 8-5. The Rams have struggled against the Red Devils recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Jackson Fritch was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Gaege Heinsen, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Mercer County came out on top against Riverdale on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Golden Eagles had just enough and edged out the Rams 9-8.

Mercer County's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Evan Blaser, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Jacob Kenney was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Mercer County's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-15. As for Riverdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Riverdale has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mercer County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
