Baseball Game Preview: Daniel Lions vs. Walhalla Razorbacks

For the first time this season, Daniel will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Saturday. They will square off against the Walhalla Razorbacks at 1:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Daniel earned a 6-2 victory over Easley. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.

Ian McCrary looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Daniel's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Julian Baldwin, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases Baldwin has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Walhalla gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They blew past Pickens 14-4. The victory continues a trend for the Razorbacks in their matchups with the Blue Flame: they've now won eight in a row.

Collin Phillips was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Phillips was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Walhalla got a massive performance out of Carson Bibb, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Nate Sanchez, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Walhalla always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pickens only posted an OBP of .385.

Daniel took their win against Walhalla in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0. Does Daniel have another victory up their sleeve, or will Walhalla turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
