Baseball Game Preview: Catskill Cats vs. Watervliet Cannoneers

The Catskill Cats will take on the Watervliet Cannoneers at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Catskill fell victim to Coxsackie-Athens and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Riverhawks, falling 9-0. The Cats haven't had much luck with the Riverhawks recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Meanwhile, Watervliet was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 12-0 to Taconic Hills. The game marked the first time this year in which the Cannoneers were not able to get on the board.

Watervliet's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Catskill, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Catskill took their victory against Watervliet in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 6-0 score. Do the Cats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cannoneers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
