Baseball Game Preview: Vinton County Vikings vs. Miami Trace Panthers

The Vinton County Vikings will challenge the Miami Trace Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Vinton County came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 19-1 to Lynchburg-Clay.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Miami Trace nor Unioto made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Panthers came out on top against the Shermans by a score of 5-1.

Gaige Stuckey was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Austin T Brown was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.

Miami Trace's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Vinton County, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
