Baseball Game Preview: Chambersburg Trojans vs. Greencastle-Antrim Blue Devils

The Chambersburg Trojans will take on the Greencastle-Antrim Blue Devils at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Chambersburg 3.6, Greencastle-Antrim 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Wednesday, Chambersburg wound up with the same score they had in their last game (2-1), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They have struggled against the Little Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Chambersburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was K Mauriello, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. B Murray also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Greencastle-Antrim came out on top against Boiling Springs on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Blue Devils had just enough and edged out the Bubblers 6-5.

Cam Niland looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Elvin Robles, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Greencastle-Antrim is undefeated when Robles posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Rakaczewski, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Greencastle-Antrim's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Chambersburg, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Chambersburg came up short against Greencastle-Antrim in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 4-1. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
