Football Recap: Bobby Reynolds' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Coffee over Thomas County Central + How To Watch

Coffee had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 4-6 to make it four. They lost 41-17 to the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 38-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

Coffee lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Bobby Reynolds, who rushed for 170 yards. Coffee is 2-1 when Reynolds posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 2-5 otherwise.

As for Thomas County Central, the win keeps them at an undefeated 10-0. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 52.0 points this season.

Thomas County Central had a senior duo take command as Christian Lawrence rushed for 126 yards and a pair of TDs and Jaylen Johnson threw for 218 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt. Lawrence's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 114 rushing yards. A healthy portion of Johnson's aerial production (88 yards to be exact) went to Rodney Dunbar, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Coffee and Thomas County Central will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Trojans see the field they'll take on Sequoyah at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. As for Thomas County Central, their break will end when they face Woodstock at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th.
