Basketball Game Preview: Mathews Mustangs vs. Badger Braves

The Mathews Mustangs will take on the Badger Braves in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Mathews easily dispatched Pymatuning Valley on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Mathews fell just short of Grand Valley by a score of 72-70 on Friday. The loss was Mathews' first of the season.

Meanwhile, Badger was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 71-58 to Harding. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (55), the Braves still had to take the loss.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mathews fell to 3-1. As for Badger, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Mathews was dealt a bruising 86-57 defeat at the hands of Badger when the teams last played back in January. Thankfully for Mathews, Duncan Moy (who shot 8-for-13 from deep and dropped a double-double on 42 points and 11 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
