Basketball Recap: Bainbridge-Guilford Falls Despite Big Games from Jayslin Henderson and Peyton Umbra

Bainbridge-Guilford lost against Unatego back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats fell to the Unatego Spartans 36-32. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Spartans are ranked 44th).

Peyton Umbra and Jayslin Henderson certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Umbra went 5 for 11 on her way to 15 points, while Henderson posted ten points. That's the most points Umbra has posted since back in February of 2024.

Bainbridge-Guilford's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-5. As for Unatego, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bainbridge-Guilford will head out to face off against Sidney at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Sidney will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Bainbridge-Guilford surely won't give up without a fight. As for Unatego, they are taking a road trip to square off against Deposit-Hancock at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
