Recap: Unity Christian Academy Phoenix vs. Morton Grove Academy Crescents
On Friday, Unity Christian Academy ended up a good deal behind Morton Grove Academy and lost 63-48.
Unity Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kenyun Mazique, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Mazique scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shamar Coleman, who scored 11 points.
Unity Christian Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Unity Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Morton Grove Academy, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.
Unity Christian Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Portage Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Portage Christian is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Morton Grove Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hinsdale Adventist Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024.
