Baseball Game Preview: Wellington Wolverines vs. Park Vista Cobras

For the second straight game, Wellington will face off against Park Vista. The Wolverines will head out to challenge the Cobras at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wellington is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

Wellington is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Park Vista a 3-0 shutout. Surprisingly, this marked the Wolverines' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Jhon Abreu made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double.

In other batting news, Thomas Lograsso was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Wellington's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-9. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Park Vista, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 20-5 record.
