Avonworth had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on the North Catholic Trojans with a sharp 44-24 win on Friday. The victory was just business as usual for the Antelopes, who after 12 games remain undefeated this season.

Avonworth's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dimitri Velisaris, who rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Luca Neal also helped with two scores in total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Avonworth was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 301 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 195 rushing yards in seven consecutive games.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Avonworth's defense and their six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Romello Harris-Blanchard and Evan Loutzenhiser, who racked up all six sacks between them.

Avonworth's record is now 12-0. As for North Catholic, they moved to 9-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Avonworth will face off against Imani Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on the 22nd. The Antelopes will need to watch out since the Saints have now posted at least 31 points in their last seven matchups. North Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
