Baseball Game Preview: El Camino Wildcats vs. El Capitan Vaqueros

The El Camino Wildcats will head out to face off against the El Capitan Vaqueros at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. El Camino will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

El Camino lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Maranatha Christian, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's contest. El Camino blew past Maranatha Christian 11-1 on Monday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Max Bell looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Ethan Stelzer was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Nate Paopao, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, El Capitan fell victim to Coronado and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Islanders. The Vaqueros have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

El Capitan also got a good showing from Jay Aschenbrener, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Aschenbrener has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

El Capitan now has a losing record of 4-5. As for El Camino, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.

El Camino took their victory against El Capitan in their previous meeting back in March of 2021 by a conclusive 13-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for El Camino since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
