Baseball Game Preview: Mascoma Royals vs. Kearsarge Cougars

The Mascoma Royals will venture away from home to face off against the Kearsarge Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Mascoma is looking for their season's first win.

Mascoma managed to slip by Newfound Regional the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Royals came up short against the Bears on Wednesday, falling 17-1.

Mascoma saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joel Backlund, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Kearsarge fell victim to Bishop Brady and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 12-0 to the Giants. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Giants: they've now lost seven in a row.

Kearsarge's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Mascoma, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-12.

Mascoma might still be hurting after the 16-0 loss they got from Kearsarge in their previous matchup on Friday. Can the Royals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
