Baseball Recap: South El Monte Drops Season-High Score on Rosemead

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South El Monte). Everything went their way against the Rosemead Panthers on Wednesday as they made off with a 17-1 win. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

South El Monte got a massive performance out of Xavier Cordova, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. What's more, Cordova posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Anthony Mata was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

South El Monte always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

South El Monte is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Rosemead, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
