Basketball Game Preview: Highland Rams vs. Brighton Bengals

The Highland Rams and the Brighton Bengals will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Highland is looking for their season's first victory.

Highland is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Olympus on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Highland had to suffer through a 53-17 loss at the hands of Olympus. The Rams were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-10.

Kennedy Gurgel put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted five points and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played.

Meanwhile, Brighton unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They were outmatched by West and fell 83-40. While losing is never fun, the Bengals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while the Panthers are ranked third).

Brighton's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7. As for Highland, their loss dropped their record down to 0-18.

Highland was dealt a bruising 66-17 defeat at the hands of Brighton in their previous meeting on January 10th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Brighton's Sophie Nielsen, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.
