Softball Game Preview: Corydon Central Panthers vs. West Washington Senators

The Corydon Central Panthers will venture away from home to square off against the West Washington Senators at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Corydon Central fell victim to Providence and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pioneers. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Panthers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Corydon Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paisley Teeter, who went 1-for-3 with one triple. Meghan Logan also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, West Washington had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They never let the Rams get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Senators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

Maggie Morrow was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Houchin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

Corydon Central's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for West Washington, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.

Corydon Central came out on top in a nail-biter against West Washington in their previous matchup back in April of 2022, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
