Softball Preview: Richland County Tigers vs. Marshall Lions

The Richland County Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Marshall Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Richland County will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Last Thursday, Richland County came up short against Mt. Carmel and fell 12-8.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Marshall's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Casey-Westfield. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, Marshall couldn't push the score so high this time.

Even though they lost, Marshall didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with nine strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Casey-Westfield only tossed four.

Richland County has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season. As for Marshall, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-6.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Richland County hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game.
