Baseball Recap: Bonnabel Find Success

Bonnabel proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the John Ehret Patriots 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bruins have posted since April 15, 2024.

Garitt Downey made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Bonnabel is 6-2 when Downey posts two or more stolen bases, but 7-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jaden Franklin was incredible, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Bonnabel's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 5-1 (and 8-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Darryl Marine, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.

Bonnabel's win bumped their record up to 13-10. As for John Ehret, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season.

Bonnabel will square off against East Jefferson at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for John Ehret, they will challenge West Jefferson at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. West Jefferson has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.67 runs per game on average), something John Ehret will no doubt try to take advantage of.
