There's no place like home for Sunrise Mountain, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 27-24 victory over the Coconino Panthers on Saturday.

Sunrise Mountain got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Logan Russell out in front who rushed for 57 yards and one TD. Tanner Austin also helped out with an impressive 93 receiving yards.

When it comes to explaining why Coconino lost, don't look at Dylan Callado. Despite the final result, he rushed for 131 yards and three scores on only 11 carries. With that strong performance, Callado is now averaging an impressive 102.8 rushing yards per game.

Sunrise Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Coconino, they now also have a losing record of 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Sunrise Mountain will head out to face off against Yuma Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Mustangs' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Coconino, they will head out on the road to challenge Mingus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will be up against the Marauders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 42.6 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
