The Miami Vandals will face off against the San Tan Charter Roadrunners at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Miami: they have been struggling with 12 straight losses at home dating back to last season, while San Tan Charter has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.
On Monday, Miami came up short against Alchesay and fell 9-5.
Kris Tarango was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Sebastian Montano was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, San Tan Charter hadn't done well against Gilbert Classical Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Roadrunners never let the Spartans get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. The Roadrunners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by eight runs or more this season.
Titus Csader made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Csader was even better at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He also put up a hit, which was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Tyrus Colomer looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, San Tan Charter let Tommy Crupi and Braden Peasel run wild. Crupi scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Peasel scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Crupi also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bairyk Schulte, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI.
San Tan Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gilbert Classical Academy only posted an OBP of .167.
Miami's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for San Tan Charter, their win bumped their record up to 16-1.
