Basketball Game Preview: Live Oak Classical Falcons vs. Faith Academy Flames

The Live Oak Classical Falcons will take on the Faith Academy Flames at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Live Oak Classical will be strutting in after a win while Faith Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

Faith Academy will be up against a hot Live Oak Classical team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Live Oak Classical claimed a resounding 55-11 victory over Keystone. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Live Oak Classical's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Ashlyn Helton, who went 9 of 11 on her way to 18 points along with six rebounds and six steals, and Audrey Pahmiyer, who went 7 for 14 en route to 16 points in addition to eight steals and five assists. The dominant performance gave Helton a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Lauren Smith, who posted four points in addition to eight steals and five boards.

Live Oak Classical smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Faith Academy came up short against Lutheran on Thursday, falling 71-46. The Flames have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Live Oak Classical has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a massive bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.0 points per game. As for Faith Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-17.

Live Oak Classical beat Faith Academy 51-41 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Faith Academy's Natalie Weems, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds.
