Basketball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Chula Vista's Winning Streak

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Chula Vista couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 46-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pacific Ridge Firebirds on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 49-39 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2018.

Pacific Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alex Besio, who made all 5 shots he took to post 14 points. That's the most points Besio has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gavin Fletcher, who made all 5 shots he took racking up 13 points.

The defeat snapped Chula Vista's winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 23-7 record. As for Pacific Ridge, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 28-2.
