Basketball Recap: Grace Christian Gets the Win

After losing to Southern Wake Academy the last time they met, Grace Christian decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Crusaders came out on top against the Lions by a score of 63-54 on Saturday.

Caleb Ellis had a dynamite game, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Grant Jacques, who shot 67% from the field to rack up 14 points.

Grace Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. They are a perfect 4-0 when they hit their own glass that hard.

Despite the loss, Southern Wake Academy still got an impressive performance from Kobe Plata, who went 7-for-10 en route to 23 points in addition to five assists and three steals. The Lions are 2-1 when Plata posts 15 or more points, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tony Lopez, who posted 11 points.

Grace Christian's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Southern Wake Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Grace Christian will face off against GRACE Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Southern Wake Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 68-23 victory against Excelsior Classical Academy on the 2nd.
