Volleyball Recap: McCallum Comes Up Short

McCallum entered their match against Anderson on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Knights fell 3-1 to the Trojans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

McCallum started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-18.

Kafia Jackson-Woods paced McCallum's offense, picking up seven kills. Jackson-Woods got some help from Lexi Rosenblatt and her 20 assists. Piper Adair controlled things from the service line, finishing with nine aces.

Anderson had a senior duo take command as Izzy Orozco had seven digs and five aces and Bailey Santos had 11 digs and two aces. With that strong performance, Orozco is now averaging an impressive 2.3 aces per game.

McCallum's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 20-9. As for Anderson, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-10.

McCallum has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Cedar Creek on the 23rd. As for Anderson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Richards School for Young Women Leaders on the 23rd.
