Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kimball). They put the hurt on Rio Linda with a sharp 11-4 victory on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Alexa Contreras made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Contreras was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaeliana DePerio, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Saige Dodds, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Kimball kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
San Leandro pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Kimball, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Kimball's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: San Leandro has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .511. It's a different story for Kimball, though, as they've only averaged .335. Will they be able to contain San Leandro's hitters?
