Mt. Carmel never let their opponents score on Monday. They blew past the Grayville Bison 14-0. The Golden Aces might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.
Lyla Keepes was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Mt. Carmel got a massive performance out of Quincy Keepes, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs Keepes has posted over her last nine games. Bella Andrews also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Mt. Carmel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grayville only posted an OBP of .077.
Mt. Carmel pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Grayville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Mt. Carmel will venture away from home to face off against Wayne City at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Grayville, they will host Waltonville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Bison surely won't give up without a fight.
