Cambridge City Lincoln had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-8 to make it six. They fell just short of the Union County Patriots by a score of 6-5. The Golden Eagles were not able to make up for their loss to the Patriots from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.
Lexi McPheeters spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on 12 hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Addyson Pitcock was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Gabrielle Patterson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Union County, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since May 11, 2024.
On Union County's side, Kamora Klingman made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 14 batters over 8.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off 12 hits. With that strong performance, Klingman is now averaging an impressive 5.5 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ally Gray, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Harly Pilgrim, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
Cambridge City Lincoln didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-1 defeat against Connersville on the 15th. As for Union County, they have also already played their next matchup, a 6-3 win against Batesville on the 15th.
