Soccer Recap: Manteno Comes Up Short

Manteno lost against Herscher back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Panthers came up short against the Tigers, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, Manteno can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 339th, while Herscher are ranked 131st).

Manteno's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11-3. As for Herscher, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3-2 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Manteno will face off against rival Coal City at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Herscher is set to square off against their familiar foe Peotone at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
