Hubbertville won the last time they faced Pickens Academy and things went their way on Friday too. The Lions came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 6-2. The victory was nothing new for the Lions as they're now sitting on nine straight.

Blaize Wakefield made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Cole Brand was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Hubbertville pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Pickens Academy, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-10.

Looking ahead, Hubbertville will take on Marion County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pickens Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against South Lamar at 4:30 p.m.
