Softball Recap: Crismon Comes Up Short

Crismon has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.86 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Saguaro Sabercats by a score of 17-16.

Alee Grace Trunell and Sophia Salvidar stepped up to the plate in a big way. Trunell scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while Salvidar went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Trunell continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Skylar DaCosta was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Crismon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in three consecutive matchups.

Crismon's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Saguaro, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season.

Crismon will take on Dysart at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Crismon knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Dysart likes a good challenge. As for Saguaro, they will square off against Perry at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
