League recap: Wheat Ridge rolls against Kennedy

Wheat Ridge took down Kennedy 52-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Ryen Kahl threw for 136 yards and 2 touchdowns in the win.

Denver South's dynamic duo of Tyson Purifoy and Mike Johnson proved tough for Littleton to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Purifoy threw for 218 yards and 3 touchdowns and Johnson had 111 yards receiving. Shun Johnson helped Denver South's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 47 yards.

He was 10-16 with 2 interceptions.

Braxton Thais provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Dakota Ridge defeated Green Mountain. He completed 19 passes for 197 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 33 yards. Thais' key target this week was Nick Cohn, who caught 5 passes for 59 yards.

The Eagles' Thais and Cohn have formed a dream team this season, leading 4A Plains in both passing and receiving yards. Thais has thrown for 1,445 yards this season, while Cohn has 17 catches for 244 yards. Zachary Lindsay from the Rebels leads the league in rushing with 822 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Wheat Ridge takes on second place Denver South. The Farmers defeated the Commanders last week, while Denver South beat the Lions.

The Rams made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,338 from 6,409. The improvement was the result of a 23-14 victory over Green Mountain last week.
