Softball Recap: Pecos Takes a Loss

Pecos extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-17 in the process. They lost 23-7 to the Santa Rosa Lions. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly 16 runs.

As for Santa Rosa, they now have a winning record of 10-9. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won nine matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

For Santa Rosa's part, Amaya Gonzales spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Santa Rosa got a massive performance out of Angelina Silva, who went 2-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Leah Moncayo, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Pecos will square off against rival Tucumcari at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Santa Rosa is set to challenge their familiar foe Estancia at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
