Basketball Recap: Rawlins Takes a Loss

After flying high against Burns on Friday, Rawlins came back down to earth. The Rawlins Outlaws fell 59-52 to the Mountain View Buffalos on Saturday. If the Outlaws were looking for revenge after losing 46-43 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Rawlins saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Chris Gonzalez posted 23 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Gonzalez a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Timothy Philo, who put up six points.

Rawlins' defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Mountain View, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 7-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rawlins will welcome Newcastle at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rawlins is facing Newcastle at the right time seeing as Newcastle is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Mountain View, they will take on Powell at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
