Basketball Recap: Hoke County Starts off Right with Win over Ascend Leadership + How To Watch

Hoke County had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 61-27 victory over the Ascend Leadership Aviators. With the Bucks ahead 36-10 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Leading Hoke County to victory were Brylah Scott and Jada Bowers. Scott dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards, while Bowers shot 50% from the field on her way to 16 points in addition to six assists and five steals. Those six assists gave Bowers a new career-high. JaNiyah Leak was another key player, putting up ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Ascend Leadership's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Claire Marshall, who posted 14 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Samara Tranquille, who put up five points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Ascend Leadership dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Hoke County has already played their next game, a 52-43 win against Riverside Christian Academy on the 21st. As for Ascend Leadership, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 46-39 defeat against Triangle Math & Science on the 18th.
