Basketball Game Preview: Neshoba Central Rockets vs. Vicksburg Gators

The Neshoba Central Rockets are taking a road trip to challenge the Vicksburg Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Neshoba Central is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Ridgeland on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Neshoba Central came up short against Ridgeland, falling 70-47. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Titans are ranked fourth).

Meanwhile, Vicksburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 69-58 loss to Columbus.

Neshoba Central's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Vicksburg, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Neshoba Central might still be hurting after the 96-70 loss they got from Vicksburg in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Neshoba Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
