Volleyball Recap: Kathryn Driend Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Haverhill + How To Watch

Methuen hadn't done well against Haverhill recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Rangers walked away with a 3-1 win over the Hillies. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in September.

The victory didn't come easy: Haverhill scored at least 19 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 23-25, 25-19, 25-22.

Methuen's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kathryn Driend led the charge by getting six digs, four aces, and three blocks. Driend has been hot for a while, having also posted 14 or more assists the last 19 times she's played. Caylee O'Brien was another key player, getting 13 kills, ten digs, and three aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Methuen was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Methuen's record now sits at 12-6. As for Haverhill, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Methuen will challenge Dracut at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Haverhill, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Billerica Memorial on the 17th.
