Football Game Preview: Alexandria Trojans vs. West Monroe Rebels

Alexandria hasn't had much luck against West Monroe recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Trojans will venture away from home to challenge the Rebels at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

West Monroe will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Alexandria extended their winning streak to five on Friday. The Trojans breezed past Many to the tune of 57-0. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Trojans just coasted through the last quarter.

Alexandria's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karsen Sellers, who threw for 139 yards and four touchdowns on perfect 7-for-7 passing. The dominant performance also gave Sellers a new career-high in passer rating (177.1). Another pass catcher making a difference was Alex Fontenot, who picked up 44 receiving yards and three scores.

Alexandria's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Peyton Hobbs, Gary Boatman, and Julius Sykes Veal, who each picked up one sack apiece. Alexandria received some extra help from Jaquarian 'Jay' Frazier, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Meanwhile, West Monroe never let their opponents score on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Scotlandville 40-0. The Rebels haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Alexandria's record now sits at 5-0. As for West Monroe, their record is now 4-1.

Alexandria was able to grind out a solid win over West Monroe in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 45-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
